Our why
Founded in 2016 as a simple blog post under the moniker ‘Boston Come Through’, The Other Boston was birthed as a creative solution to a very real problem many people in Boston have. Whether a native, a transplant, or simply visiting, it’s understood that Boston is a very difficult city to navigate - logistically, economically, and definitely, socially. This can be particularly true for Black people who often struggle to find the social scenes, communities, and networks that accurately reflect and represent them.
Welcome to The Other Vibe - an inclusive space to catch a vibe, experience a vibe, and essentially be a vibe. Our mission is to foster community through a weekly events list, show neighborhood pride through our merch line, and essentially amplify, and highlight the Black experience. We pride ourselves in bringing visibility to often overlooked neighborhoods and communities, supporting event organizers and highlighting the work of local creatives. Whether it’s Boston, Houston or beyond, we are your official events plug of the city.
