Join us for an open house and a one-day display celebrating milestones on the road to the end of slavery. Featured items explore the 1783 abolition of slavery in Massachusetts; celebrations within the African American community in Boston of the ending of slavery in the British West Indies in 1833; Garrisonian protest banners; and a look at the evolution of depictions of Crispus Attucks’s death in the Boston Massacre as a symbol of black abolitionism before and during the Civil War.

Our June 2018 Queens Talk collaboration with ABCD Health Services is in the tradition of the Women Safety Net Party developed by women of color as grassroots home-based gatherings to educate women about HIV and provide tools for their sexual health and well-being. In that tradition please join Queens Talk as the host of Women Safety Net Party with ABCD Health Service programs for a safe and supportive environment for women to get together and talk about our reproductive and sexual health care. The Safety Net Party is a time for questions and concerns many women have about impact of HIV/STI, access to family planning services and safer sex methods and partner communication. Knowledge and resources is always power in our hands. The Women Safety Net party is open to all self-identifying and LGBTQ women and girls.

Fenway’s Women’s Health Team presents the Queer Womxn’s Empowerment Series, a workshop series that supports the holistic health of lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer women as well as non-binary and gender fluid individuals. The act of self-care is revolutionary for womxn of color. We are often not given the space to be seen as soft, vulnerable, or anything but negative portrayals that society has put on us. It is a revolutionary act to take five minutes for yourself and breath, to set boundaries for your mental wellbeing, to see a therapist. This workshop will explore breathe, yoga movement, and journaling as forms of self-care.
