A Love Letter to Jassy
Dear The Other Boston Family,
We at The Other Boston, like many of you, have been following the Jassy Correia story and the circumstances that led to her death. We’ve been deeply saddened by what’s taken place and our heart goes out to Jassy’s family, friends and loved ones. We created The Other Boston as a platform to provide a voice to the community and be a means to honor, mobilize and empower. Jassy’s story has given us pause as we consider how we would like to positively shape the narrative and propel us towards collective healing. Jassy may have met an untimely death, but there is no doubt that she will save the lives of many as her life has sparked much needed conversations in our community, spread awareness around the safety of women of color, and we believe, will even impact laws. We may not be able to change the course of events, but what we can do is collectively come together to honor her life.
At this time, we would like to announce our digital campaign we are calling “A Love Letter to Jassy”. We would like to encourage you (the community) to share your condolences, prayers, poems, songs or even a few kind words via a video you will upload to social media. This is your opportunity to reflect, share your thoughts and be part of something meaningful; while this is our way of empowering the community and providing a platform to all those who feel the affects of what happened. Our hope is that we can collectively grieve, shower Jassy's family with love, and eventually heal.
For clarification, the video should be no more than 60 seconds long, please do not include/play music in the background, please do upload to social media (and make sure your page is public so we can see it), and lastly, use the following three hashtags:
#ALoveLetterToJassy
#HonoringJassy
#TheOtherBoston
For all those who choose to participate, thank you in advance. We appreciate you.
To Jassy's family, friends and loved ones, we offer our sincere condolences. We are truly sorry for your loss. May her memory live on through each and every one of you. May God wrap his loving arms around you all. May you receive swift justice. And may time bring each and every one of you peace.
And to Jassy, may you spread your wings and fly high. Rest in peace baby girl.
XOXO,
Genevieve Angelique & Lindsey Briggs
