Soleful Bliss Art & Music and Tech (SBAMT) Series is an multifaceted platform that aims to connect and socially gather people from all walks of life to celebrate the dynamics of social justice within the realms of art, music and technology in a global perspective. These series has been ongoing for seven years generating synergies and creating awareness to support local independent artists as a resource by providing open opportunities within the arts sector in Greater Boston. This year we’re honoring the late American singer, songwriter, pianist, music legend, composer, arranger, and activist in the civil rights movement Nina Simone. Join us for refreshments, special performances from Boston-based artists and a tribute to our soul-tress “Nina Simone.” Located on the 3rd floor ballroom, Hibernian Hall, 184 Dudley Street. Emcee What You Did There & Hip-Hop Jeopardy | Copley | Free

On Saturday, September 15th from 1pm-4pm, we will be presenting the “I EMCEE’ing What You Did There”. An event honoring the artistry of an EMCEE & exhibiting the talent swarming throughout the city of Boston. The event will have it’s very own Hip Hop Jeopardy game hosted by Courtney Boston along with music by DJ Drew plus performances by Red Shaydez, Mark Merren, First Lady Sarita, Sandro Castro, BYTC & The Hangaz. In addition to, there will be a male and female cypher, vendors, giveaways plus more. This will be the first Hip-Hop event ever within the courtyard of t4he Copley Library located at 700 Boylston St. Boston, MA 02119 and moreover, the first LIVE Hip Hop Jeopardy game right here in Boston! This is a FREE community event providing all a platform to build their network, experience the art of an EMCEE, and show that the city of Boston is overflowing with the love of the art.

After Nigeria made a clean sweep of the Jollof Festivals DC & NYC in 2017, Liberia came up with strong wins in the first ever anonymous voting version of the Jollof Wars in ATLANTA, DC, LA before Ghana stormed in and won Oakland during the first half of our 2018 Jollof festival '18 cities. Who will win the Jollof wars 2018 New England?! Eat your way through the best Jollof rice dishes New England has to offer at our annual Jollof Festival. We've challenged New England's Jollof chefs and restaurants to come up with exciting takes on this classic comfort food. The event is full of fun, and you will have an opportunity to cast an anonymous vote for the best-made Jollof during the event.

Black Radical Imagination | Seaport | $

Black Radical Imagination is an international touring program of moving image shorts that highlights new stories by filmmakers and visual artists from within the African diaspora. This year’s program, FUGITIVE TRAJECTORIES, meditates on the various ways Black people are tending to their lives despite traumatic histories, both personal and collective, and a troubling present. Black Radical Imagination is co-founded by Erin Christovale and Amir George, and the 2018 program is curated by Jheanelle Brown and Darol Olu Kae. Participating artists include Ephraim Asili, Cecile Emeke, Jenn Nkiru, Amelia Umuhire, Kamau Wainaina, and dana washington. 
Curators Jheanelle Brown and Darol Olu Kae will be in conversation with Assistant Curator Jessica Hong.
